To raise awareness of social enterprises with 33 procurement officers in local and to understand their tendering/contracting procedures and approach to the social enterprise sectorTo research the market opportunities for the social enterprise sector in London in terms of the management of community facilities and other public sector opportunities
To undertake research with social enterprises in London to gauge interest and ability to bid for public sector contracts
To promote and pilot the DTI Procurement Toolkit in London with public authorities and social enterprises
To create electronic resources to bring supply and demand together to aid more effective procurement in London
To create on on-line trading catalogue, listing the goods and services of social enterprises across London.
To work in partnership with the SEP West Midlands procurement project and deliver a series of joint events
Delivery Approach
Social Enterprise London are leading the project on behalf of the regional partnership comprised of Social Enterprise London, Social Firms South East, the DTA (London) and Social Enterprise Thames Gateway. The SEP London project team will meet with the SEP West Midlands project (also focused on procurement) to share design, process and best practice. The SEP project work in London will be closely integrated with the Themed Project Working Group of the London Social Economy Taskforce.
