Proposal From The East Of England
Mutual & Co-operative Council To The SEP For
EQUAL Supported Activity In 2003 – 2005
Background
The East Of England Mutual & Co-operative Council (EEMCC) is currently
re-developing its role as the regional development, support and representative
body for the co-operative and mutual sector in the east of England with
support from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
Further, within the eastern region, an existing EQUAL project is already
well underway, and the Council is an active part of its steering and working
groups. This position has allowed it to formulate its project proposals
such that as well as being of direct impact to the SEP, they will also strongly
complement the existing EQUAL activity in the region without fear of duplication
and will enhance project work already being delivered.
Proposed Project Activity
The EEMCC is intending to pilot the social auditing and adviser capacity
building materials in the eastern region that the SEP is developing nationally,
amongst social enterprise advisers, practitioners and mainstream business
advisers.
It is hoped that this activity will enable the SEP to further refine
these tools for the benefit of the Social Economy whilst at the same time
strengthening this sector on the region.
It is anticipated that the piloting activity will be primarily co-ordinated
by the Council in close partnership with existing EQUAL
activity in the region and will be delivered in multiple locations by local
delivery partners – namely
CDAs and other social enterprise support bodies such as the DTA
and business links who already have close working relationships
with the target groups.
