Q&I PILOTS

The Healthcheck Model   Developed and piloted (in the North East, North West and London) by the Development Trusts Association, the Healthcheck Model is a quality system based on the core criteria of development trusts but with potential application to other social enterprises.  
Key Performance Indicators   Developed and piloted by Co-operatives UK, Key Performance Indicators are a mechanism for capturing the social performance of the co-operative approach, values and principles. It is expected that ten key performance indicators will be benchmarked and piloted with co-operatives nationally.  
Balanced Scorecard for Social Firms   Research into the use of quality and impact tools within the Social Firms sector and development and piloting of a Balanced Scorecard approach within social firms 
Social Return on Investment   Led by the New Economics Foundation, Social Return on Investment is a mechanism to capture the social benefits of projects and explore the financial values of social returns (e.g. reduction in welfare spend or increases in taxes raised through increasing employment).  
Ethical Explorer  Led by a consortium of leading social accounting experts, Ethical Explorer is a new online tool developed to help organisations to engage with their stakeholders and practice social reporting. The project will offer Ethical Explorer as a potential tool for piloting with social enterprises.  
LM3  LM3 is an approach to measuring and improving local economic impact. NEF has piloted LM3 with social enterprises, and is also helping local authorities pilot LM3 to support social enterprises. 
Layered Social Accounting – Accessible Social Auditing (CBS Scotland)   The project will re-visit social auditing and develop a new approach which takes into account the size and capacity of the organisation.
