About Social Enterprise Partnership GB Ltd

Aims and Objectives

Social Enterprise Partnership GB Ltd (SEP) is a strategic partnership of six organisations. SEP runs a national social enterprise project (see 'What is a social enterprise?') whose aims are to:

 
 

  • build and raise awareness of the social enterprise sector;
  • improve the performance of social enterprises;
  • make the social enterprise support system more effective;
  • mainstream best practice and innovate to influence wider programmes of social inclusion and enterprise.
 
 

 

SEP Member Organisations

Social Enterprise Partnership is made up of six member organisations:

 
 

  • The Co-operative Union
  • Development Trusts Association
  • New Economics Foundation
  • Social Enterprise London
  • Social Firms UK
  • Social Enterprise Coalition
 
 

By the close of the project, SEP hopes to have created more successful social enterprises and support bodies, greater diversity within social enterprises and greater awareness of social enterprise in general and of its potential for the delivery of public services in particular.

Project activities fall into two themes - enhancing business support and promoting learning and quality. The project outputs and outcomes will include:

 
 

  • a wide range of training and professional development materials;
  • tools for needs assessments, social audits, health checks;
  • an extranet;
  • a business advisor
  • case studies, analyses and reports covering many areas of relevance to social enterprise;
  • more skilled and knowledgeable members of social enterprises and their support bodies;
  • a more integrated and connected support infrastructure for social enterprise, including a transnational dimension
